DIANE C. TILLOTSON joined Hemenway & Barnes in 1980 and became a partner in 1988. She concentrates her practice in the areas of land use permitting and real estate litigation, including environmental litigation, boundary disputes, contested land court registration cases, land damage cases, zoning litigation, easement disputes, and condominium governance issues. Ms. Tillotson has tried cases in the Massachusetts Land Court, Superior Court and Federal District Court, State District Courts, Boston Housing Court and the Boston Municipal Court and regularly appears before local planning boards, zoning boards of appeal and conservation commissions. Ms. Tillotson also has considerable experience in both residential and commercial transactions, zoning, and land use planning.

Ms. Tillotson is a frequent lecturer for Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education where she formerly served as a member of the Real Estate Curriculum Advisory Committee. She is also a contributing author to the following Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc. publications: Massachusetts Zoning Manual; Living With Toxic Torts: Emerging Concerns in Residential Property Transactions; and Typical Real Estate Contract Disputes. She is a former President of the Massachusetts Conveyancers Association and is a member of the Abstract Club.

She graduated from Emmanuel College in 1970 and from Suffolk University Law School (cum laude) in 1978 where she was an Editor of the Law Review. After law school, Ms. Tillotson clerked for the Justices of the Massachusetts Superior Court and, in 1979-1980, served as the Chief Law Clerk to the Justices of the Superior Court.
